Clear Wave Support

Last Updated: October 30, 2026

Clear Wave plays a low-frequency tone and a frequency sweep through your iPhone speaker, with vibration, to help move water and dust out of the speaker grille. Before and after a run it listens through the microphone and gives a sound-quality score, which is calculated on your device. The app also has a tone generator, a stereo speaker test, a decibel meter and an optional cleaning reminder. Results vary by device and conditions, and the app does not promise that water will be removed. Requires iOS 17 or later on iPhone.

Questions

What does Clear Wave do, and what does it not do?

It plays sound through the speaker and vibrates the phone. That is all it does to the device. Whether it helps depends on the phone and on how much water or dust is in the speaker, so results vary. It does not repair a damaged speaker, and it does not dry the inside of the phone. If your phone was fully submerged, let it dry as well. Damage from liquids, volume or misuse is covered in the Terms of Use.

I hear no sound when I start a clean

Raise the volume to maximum, take off any case or cover that blocks the speaker, and try again. For a better result the app asks you to place the phone face down at maximum volume. If you still hear nothing, try the stereo speaker test to see whether the bottom and top speakers each play. If one is silent or muffled after several runs, the cause may be something the app cannot change.

The cleaning did not work, or the sound is still muffled

Run it again, or use Ultra Mode, a stronger and longer cycle that needs a subscription. Then check the result with the sound analysis and the stereo test. Sound can stay muffled for reasons a tone cannot fix, such as dirt packed in the grille, a damaged speaker or water that has not yet dried. If it does not improve, have the phone checked by Apple or an authorized service provider. Ultra Mode is loud: keep the phone away from your ears and do not stay close to it while it runs.

The microphone score looks wrong

The score is a quick measurement, and room noise, a case and how the phone is held change it. Try again in a quiet room with nothing covering the speaker or microphone. If you think the app measured something wrong, email us with your iPhone model and what you saw.

What is free and what needs a subscription?

The speaker cleaner can be used free. Some other tools and Ultra Mode need a subscription. Plans and any free trial are shown in the app before you buy, at the price Apple displays for your region. Purchases are processed by Apple.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Cancel in iPhone Settings: tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Clear Wave. Access continues until the end of the current billing period. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

How do I restore my purchase?

Open the subscription screen in Clear Wave and tap Restore. Use the same Apple Account that made the purchase. If the app says no active subscription was found, check that you are signed in to that account in Settings, and that the subscription has not expired.

How do I get a refund?

Purchases are processed by Apple, and we cannot issue refunds ourselves. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Does Clear Wave record or upload my audio?

No. The microphone is used live on your device to analyse your speaker and to measure sound levels. Audio is not recorded, saved or sent off your device. The app does collect anonymous usage analytics, and purchase records are handled so your subscription can be checked and restored. See the Privacy Policy for details.
