Terms of Use

Welcome to Onscript. These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Parallax Technologies LLC ("we", "our", or "us") for the Onscript iOS app. By downloading or using Onscript, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. License and Apple's EULA
Onscript is licensed to you, not sold, subject to these Terms and Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA): apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula. If these Terms and Apple's EULA conflict, Apple's EULA applies to the extent required. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content and has no obligation to provide support for it.
2. The App
Onscript is a teleprompter for iPhone. It includes:
- Scripts you type, paste, or import from text, RTF and PDF files, stored on your device
- Reading at a fixed speed, with text size, margins, mirroring and a countdown
- Voice follow, which moves the script as you read it aloud, using speech recognition that runs on your device; it currently works with English scripts
- Recording yourself with the front camera while you read, with the video kept in the app until you save or share it
Fixed-speed reading, recording, unlimited scripts and saving or sharing recordings are free. Voice follow includes a number of free takes, shown in the app, and then requires a subscription (Section 3). Features and supported languages may change over time.
Voice follow depends on your device, your microphone, your surroundings and how closely you read the script. It can lose its place or move at the wrong moment. Please do not rely on it where a mistake would cause harm, such as a live broadcast, without a way to take over at a fixed speed.
3. Subscription
Voice follow beyond the free takes is offered as an auto-renewing yearly subscription purchased through Apple. The price and the subscription period are shown in the app and on the App Store before you confirm a purchase, and the price may vary by country or region. There is currently no free trial or introductory offer.
- Payment. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
- Auto-renewal. The subscription renews automatically for another year unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Cancellation. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings: on iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. To avoid the next renewal, cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, and you keep voice follow until then. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds. Payments are handled by Apple. We cannot issue refunds directly; refund requests are handled by Apple under Apple's policies. No partial refunds are provided for an unused part of a period, except where required by law.
- Restore. You can restore an active subscription on another device signed in to the same Apple Account with Restore purchases in Settings.
- Family Sharing. The subscription is not shared through Apple's Family Sharing. It applies to the Apple Account that bought it.
- Price changes. If the subscription price changes, Apple will notify you in advance, and where required by law or Apple's rules you will be asked to agree before the new price applies.
4. Your Content
Your scripts and recordings are yours. They are stored on your device, and we do not receive them or claim any rights to them. You are responsible for the scripts you use and the recordings you make, including having the right to use any text you import and the permission of anyone who appears or is heard in your recordings.
The app, its design and its text are owned by Parallax Technologies LLC or its licensors.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the app to break the law or infringe the rights of others, including recording people without the consent the law requires, and not to reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, to get around the subscription or the free take limit, or to interfere with the app or our website.
6. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what Onscript handles on your device, what leaves it, and the choices you have.
7. Third-Party Services
The app relies on Apple's platform, including on-device speech recognition and the App Store, and on the service providers listed in the Privacy Policy. Their availability is outside our control. Your use of the App Store is governed by Apple's terms. When you save or share a recording, the app you choose handles it under its own terms.
8. Disclaimers
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, THAT VOICE FOLLOW WILL RECOGNIZE EVERY WORD OR KEEP ITS PLACE, OR THAT A RECORDING WILL BE MADE OR KEPT IN EVERY SITUATION.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PARALLAX TECHNOLOGIES LLC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP, INCLUDING A LOST RECORDING, A FAILED PRESENTATION OR BROADCAST, OR LOSS OF DATA. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS RIGHTS YOU HAVE UNDER CONSUMER PROTECTION LAWS THAT CANNOT BE WAIVED.
10. Changes and Termination
We may update or discontinue the app or any feature. We may update these Terms; we will change the "Last Updated" date and tell you in the app about material changes. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. You can stop using Onscript at any time by deleting the app; remember to cancel any subscription through Apple.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, unless the consumer laws of your country give you the right to bring proceedings where you live.
