Pillowtale Support

No. Pillowtale has no email sign-up and no login. The app signs in anonymously in the background, which creates a random identifier on your device so your AI stories can be backed up and come back if you reinstall the app. It is not tied to your name, email or Apple Account.

Subscriptions are bought through Apple, so they are managed there. Open Settings in Pillowtale and tap Manage subscription, or open the Settings app on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the current period and you keep Premium until then. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. If you started a free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid being charged.

Open Settings in Pillowtale and tap Restore purchases. Use the same Apple Account that made the purchase. Subscriptions are not shared through Family Sharing, so they only restore on the Apple Account that bought them.

Payments are processed by Apple, and we cannot issue refunds ourselves. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Pillowtale can be used for free with limits, for example on the number of AI stories and on how much of a story is read in your own voice. Premium unlocks more. The yearly plan may include a free trial for eligible users, as determined by Apple; the monthly plan does not. Prices, the trial length and the current limits are shown in the app before you confirm anything.

Open the Voices screen and record a short sample. A recording can be up to 25 seconds, and the timer counts down. Before recording starts, the app asks you to confirm that you are the parent or guardian and that you consent to the voice being recorded and processed. Only record your own voice, or the voice of an adult who has given you explicit permission. The Terms of Use do not allow cloning a child's voice.

The voice is made on our own voice server, so it needs an internet connection. If the voice cannot be used for a page, the app falls back to another voice and shows a notice in the reader. On the free plan only the first page of a story is read in your voice. Premium reads the whole story in it. Check your connection and try again, and if it keeps happening, email us with your iPhone model and app version.

Yes. Stories keep playing with the screen off and from the lock screen, so the phone can stay face down on the nightstand.

The app is operated by a parent or guardian. Purchases, links that leave the app, and deleting data sit behind a parental check, a simple arithmetic question. We instruct our AI providers to write gentle, age-appropriate bedtime stories, and the app checks the generated text against a list of unsuitable words and themes and keeps links and email addresses out of stories. AI output can still be unexpected, and we do not review each story before you see it, so we recommend previewing AI stories. If a story contains something inappropriate, tap the flag in the story reader and choose a reason. The story is hidden from your library straight away and the report is sent to us for review. A report does not contain your child's name or an identifier for you.

Yes. Hidden stories can be shown again from the Hidden Stories screen in your library, which is behind the parental check.

The first time you create an AI story, the app shows you what would be sent and to whom, and nothing is sent until you agree. If you decline, no AI story is created. You can withdraw your permission at any time with the Use AI services switch in Settings. While it is off, ready-made stories and narration in a voice you recorded still work, and AI stories you already have are read by the voice built into your iPhone. To write a story, the app sends the character, topic, age group and language. Your child's name is designed not to be sent to the AI that writes the story or draws the pictures: the app puts the name in on your device afterwards. The one exception is reading a personalized AI story aloud in the standard narrator voice, where the page text, including the name, is sent to a speech service. The Privacy Policy describes this in full.

Your child's profile, progress, voice recordings and saved stories are kept on your device. Your recording and the voice made from it are also kept on our voice server, and your AI stories and illustrations are backed up in the cloud under the anonymous identifier. To delete a single voice, delete it on the Voices screen; this removes the recording from your device and instructs our voice server to delete the stored voice. To delete everything, open Settings and choose Delete all data, or Delete account, which also discards the anonymous cloud identity. Both remove your voices, child profile, progress, stories and illustrations from your device, and delete your stored voices and cloud stories from our servers. If a server cannot be reached, the app finishes the deletion the next time it can; a Finish deleting data button appears in Settings if something is still pending. Deleting the app alone does not delete your cloud backup, so please delete your data in the app first. Because there is no login, we usually cannot match an email request to your data, so in-app deletion is the most reliable way. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

No. The app does not use the advertising identifier, does not show an App Tracking Transparency prompt and has no advertising tools. It records a small set of anonymous usage events that carry no child name, story text or voice.

Pillowtale needs an internet connection to create AI stories and illustrations, to narrate in a cloned voice and to load plans for purchase. Only one recorded voice is kept at a time: to record a different voice, delete the current one first. AI stories and cloned voices may not always sound or read as you expect. The app is for iPhone only.
